Day 293 - October 21, 2012 - Terry is on linkedin

Terry wanted to go on linkedin to hopefully find a new job. So I took a few photos for her, this is the one we thought was best. Hopefully she'll find something, she wants to switch from her usual field of medical office work so she's racking her brain and thinking about what she wants to switch to.

Day 292 - October 20, 2012 - Big Mexican Birthday Party

It was Julie's birthday party, even though her real birthday is the 24th. We went to dinner at a Mexican Restaurant in East Meadow called Margaritas. When it came time for her to get sung Happy Birthday too they put a big Mexican hat on her and the mariachi band came out to sing. I took a photo, the best of the 10 photos I took the whole evening.

Day 291 - October 19, 2012 - The titanic still sails

I enjoyed my day off today. I met Janell at the mall and did massive Christmas Shopping. Then we met Kate at Brownstone's coffee in Amityville and I drank a massive amount of coffee. I took photos of Brownstone's which I'll probably post on google +, this was the coolest part of the decor. They have their ceiling painted to resemble a night sky. They have a mirror with a model ship in front of it. The way they have positioned the mirror and the ship, depending on where you sit in the shop it looks like the ship is sailing in the night sky.

Day 290 - October 18, 2012 - Does Big Bertha work here?

I currently have built up a large chocolate stash in my desk drawers to refill the chocolate cup that I often have chocolate from and that my co-workers also partake in. If people didn't know better they'd think Big Bertha worked in the library instead of me quasi Big Bertha.

Day 289 - October 17, 2012 - I have half the library checked out again

I've decided I'm going to go through one of those phases in my life that I've gone through before...those times when I decide to check out half the library. I don't know how I'm going to read all these books before they are renewed twice and have to be returned, but I'm going to try because I have blind hope. I shouldn't do this to myself, but there are times where I can't resist. At least I'm keeping most of the books at work instead of carrying them back and forth.

Day 288 - October 16, 2012 - New hard drive

Shawn picked up a new portable hard drive for me because my old one is potentially going to shit. He has the old one now, he's going to reformat it and maybe sell it for $20 if he feels it's still usable after he runs it through a lot of tests. Now I have to take all the backed up files off my laptop and organize them.

Day 287 - October 15, 2012 - My tidy half of the closet

A few weeks ago I spent a good couple of hours cleaning my side of the closet and my drawers. Now it's all organized. One of the few organized parts of the house lol.

Day 286 - October 14, 2012 - The Killing

I rented the first season of the killing from work and I became obsessed with it. All weekend I compulsively watched one episode after the other. There's a second season, I don't think it's available on DVD yet so I'll just have to keep an eye out for it. The person accused and arrested for the murder at the end of the season might not be the real killer even though a lot of evidence points to this person.

Day 285 - October 13, 2012 - Puerto Rican Dino

We went to Donny's to play our Star Wars RPG game. Donny got a little silly with some of Logan's dinosaur toys, game dice and the maracas we got Logan from Puerto Rico. I took a photo of the silly in action.

Day 284 - October 12, 2012 - Lovey Dove Sunshine

We got another wedding gift. Even though the wedding is over, some random wedding gifts are being given to us here and there. This was from Shawn's co-worker, she went to India and bought us back two suns. We have yet to put them up, we will when one of us isn't too lazy to go to the garage and get some twine so we can construct the star and sunfish decoration we've got in mind for the bathroom.

Day 283 - October 11, 2012 - Dry reading

I've been studying, not as much as I should, but still studying. I've been doing it for two reasons. So I went through this book to read and take notes on it even though it was actually the last thing I wanted to do.

Day 281 - October 9, 2012 - I've resorted to this!

YES! I've finally resorted to the inevitable, I'm carrying a suitcase to work with me. My thermos is so very heavy, and sometimes I also have an extra book or two to tote back to the library with me. So I started carrying my small pink suitcase to save my shoulders and back. These are my wheels until I start driving again eventually.

Day 280 - October 8, 2012 - Going to try this!

I thought about trying to wear heels to work again. The last time I wore heels to work was when I started grad school, after a few uncomfortable instances I just started always wearing flats, but I wanted to change things a little, look a little more professional and sexy (but only for Shawn). So we went shopping and I came home with these, they aren't so bad I've worn them to work every day since I bought them. I picked a basic black pair that will go with everything I own. Now to build up my collection of heels, I think I might tell anyone who wishes to buy me a christmas gift to get me a gift card to payless or DSW, or Loehmann's so I can buy more heels.

Day 279 - October 7, 2012 - I can only stay for 10 minutes :(

Today is one of four Sundays I'm working for the Fall season. I don't know if I'm going to take any Sundays for the Winter or Spring. I like them they aren't bad and they are just 4 hours and the overtime paycheck definitely beefs up our checking account. On the other hand it is a minor drag having to come in, so we'll see if I do anymore, or if I just choose to have the time off in the future. Both the money and the time off have some value to them so it's hard to really choose the right course of action. I took a 10:28 train to come in, Shawn was going to drop me off but I wanted him to get some sleep (even though we both had a weird night of sleep interruptions). I hacked a lung while sleeping, something common for me during the night, Shawn kept waking up, phantom barged into the bedroom at 8 AM so I could feed her and let her out. I got into Lynbrook around 11 and was hoping to get  bus right away. But Sundays are slower for buses so a bus didn't come as fast it would during the week day or a Saturday. By the time I got to Starbucks it was closer to 12 and work started at 12:30. After I used their bathroom and got both my orders of a chai tea latte, and cinnamon dolce cafe misto (to get me through my work hours because I didn't take my thermos) I only had 10 minutes to chill out and read my book before walking to work.

Day 278 - October 6, 2012 - Effie's 60th!

Randi threw a surprise birthday party for Chris. He likes boating and fishing so she rented a party boat taking off from the nautical mile. I think she made these M&Ms as a joke for Chris or someone else did. Maybe they were leftover from a different party. Either way they were pretty funny, they said Efi's 60th instead of Chris' 30th. The party turned out not to be a surprise, Chris saw everyone before we boarded the boat and figured it out. We had a nice time, this was my second time on a party boat, Shawn's first time, it was the only sober time I've had though, the first time I was on a party boat I was with my friend Chris, Joanna, and another fire department volunteer Patrick. Chris & Patrick were invited on the boat for the fire department, they didn't have real dates so Joanna and I went with them as friend dates. I attended a few fire department friend dates with Chris before I started going out with Shawn. I got blasted on the boat because it's when I was drinking, and I didn't stop after the boat docked, which is why I no longer drink alcohol at all and I just stay sober.

Day 277 - October 5, 2012 - Adding to my cooking repetoire

Had off today, slept until the afternoon then went food shopping. Since I bought a fuck ton of groceries and spent lots of money and was off from work I figured maybe it's best I try to make something for dinner instead of having us go out. So I cooked baked ziti while Shawn was fixing my phone. It actually came out pretty good, my next project which I will accomplish next time I hit the grocery store will be home made  baked macaroni and cheese. I also miss making home fries but Shawn isn't a fan of them too much, maybe I'll get potatoes from the store next time we have someone sleep over and cook home fries in the morning along with eggs.

Day 276 October 4, 2012 - It's too hot for October so I give up on my PJ pants

The temperature recently started dropping but generally it's been pretty hot for October. I took this photo under the wrong lighting but I liked it, I took a photo of my Mets PJ shorts before I resigned to wearing them because my PJ pants were too hot. Turns out halfway through the night I got to cold and put the PJ pants back on again, can't win with this weather.

Day 275 - October 3, 2012 - This might be a bit odd

Mary made me a sandwich for lunch and bought it into work for me. She put Swiss cheese and American Cheese on Cinnamon Raisin Bread. Seemed like a weird combo to me and I don't like Swiss Cheese, but she did make it for me and it wasn't meat. So I took off the Swiss Cheese bit the bullet and tried the sandwich with American Cheese. It wasn't so bad it was kind of like a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese.

Day 274 - October 2, 2012 - A sukkot on Broadway

Apparently someone celebrating Sukkot does not have a backyard to build one in. This sukkot has been on Broadway the past week or so.

Day 273 - October 1, 2012 - Massapequa Perk FINALLY!

Went to the DMV to get my name changed. I was waiting for my social security card to come in, it turns out the DMV in Massapequa only wanted to see the marriage license. My sister went to Garden City and they wanted her social security card as well. I've been dying to visit this coffee shop since I noticed them on the train when I first started dating Shawn. Today fate was on my side in this coffee shop visit. I finished up at the DMV (had to work  1 to 9) so I took a cab to the Massapequa Park LIRR instead of the Massapequa LIRR and I had about 45 minutes to enjoy the coffee shop along with a book. It's a pretty good shop, have to go with Shawn one day.

Day 272 - September 29, 2012 - Vincent Fix!

Vincent came over the house again while Anabel went out so that Terry could babysit him. The afternoon was a little busy because I kept running up and down the stairs, going back and forth to help both Shawn and Terry. I missed Vincent though so I had to hang out with him a little bit. I used to get to see him once a week but Terry doesn't take him on Thursdays anymore so if I'm lucky I get to see the little guy about twice a month.

Day 271 - September 29, 2012 - Donny's wood pile

We went to Donny's house, Shawn has been there before but it was my first time over. I ended up joining the Star Wars RPG game I thought the guys were just going to play so now once again I'm dabbling in playing at one of the boys. (I like to hang out with my girlfriends too and girly nights here and there are a necessity, but for some reason I find hanging out with the guys is a lot less drama - it's also nice to hang with the guys when one of them is your husband). In Donny's back yard during a game break I decided to photograph his pile of wood reserved for his wood burning stove. Maybe if it's cold enough we will get to feel the warmth of the stove in action during the upcoming October game.
