WEDDING VACATION MESSAGE!

You may or may not know from previous blog entries that I'm getting married this weekend!!! I'll be off work starting tomorrow (August 28 until September 17). So I'm taking a vacation from blogging as well as I prepare for the wedding, have the ceremony, reception and go on my honeymoon. Hang in there my readers and I do hope and trust you'll have a lot to keep you busy and entertained until I return to writing entries after the wedding. I seriously doubt anyone's sole life is reading my blogs.

I'll be taking daily photos of course, but I'll be posting them sometime after I return from the honeymoon.

Day 238 - August 27, 2012 - Make up on the train!

My new routine is applying make up in the morning while I ride the train. I don't have much time from the point that I wake up to the time I have to leave for the train and I move a little slow in the morning. So I've been taking my make up to go along with a breakfast bar. This is the last morning I have to do this though, starting tomorrow I'll be off for my wedding and honeymoon.

Day 237 - August 26, 2012 - Andrea already has a child!

Andrea's family through her a baby shower today. It turned into the marathon baby shower for me. I met Samantha in Bellmore early in the morning. We went to Andrea's house to set up the shower, then I stayed later to help her clean up. So I was gone for almost 12 hours. At some point Dave got into a walker that was left around. I think I told Andrea that she has two kids her husband and the baby she's expecting.

Day 236 - August 25, 2012 - Couply collage

Shawn and I are having two collages at our wedding. I made this one on Saturday it's our couply collage which features photos of both of us since we started dating. He made our baby collage since we aren't doing that cheesy video that some couples do featuring our baby pictures. Instead we are having a collage to feature our baby pictures.

Day 235 - August 24, 2012 - The phantom at the library!

My job threw me a bridal shower. Larry popped out of the closet dressed up like the phantom. It was pretty funny. It was the best bridal shower in the world, definitely trumped the one given to me jury duty and the one my mom was in charge of.

Day 234 - August 23, 2012 - Starbucks!

Another bad photo pulled off google + instant uploads. Starbucks is so very nice!

Day 233 - August 22, 2012 - My library card

My library card saves me so much money. Right now I just have a library card for the library I work in. Maybe one day I'll get a card for where I live, after Shawn and I decide exactly what we would like to do after the wedding. I've probably checked out more then the equivalent to my yearly salary. Maybe I'm exaggerating.

Day 232 - August 21, 2012 - Morning walks through the lake

I thought I was done with these...but after crashing two cars I'm obviously not. Every morning on my way to the train, until I'm ready to eventually start driving again I take a walk through Argyle Lake. It's so pretty and nice. In the winter it's going to be cold though.

Day 231 - August 20, 2012 - Our desks are bare!

The library was closed over the weekend. For two summer weekends in a row library maintenance was scheduled and the building was closed. We cleaned all the crap off the reference desk so the custodians could clean them. This was our desk before we put everything back.

Day 230 - August 19, 2012 - Coffee blooms are pretty

I'm an amateur coffee connoisseur. One of the ways I love to brew coffee is the Melita method, or the pour over method. It creates what is known as the coffee bloom and to me it's absolutely pretty.

Day 229 - August 18, 2012 - Softball and Nelly time!

Shawn had his bachelor party. So I went to softball with Janell and Jared. We really didn't play much because not too many people showed up to play, but I was glad to spend time with Janell. I hung out with her and Lisa for a little bit, then went back home. Didn't fall asleep until maybe 5:30 or 6 AM because Shawn was out and I was worried about him getting back home safely.

Day 228 - August 17, 2012 - Is this the perfect bag? No it's not!

So I've curbed my shopping big time, hopefully for good. Hopefully I'll finally nip this in the but and only shop once in awhile unless we can afford for me to spend whatever I want to spend. Now I've been shopping in my closet .I forgot I had this bag and got excited because I thought it would be great for my commute to work. Apparently I was wrong. This bag only works well if I have another big shoulder bag to work with.

Day 227 - August 16, 2012 - LIRR tracks

This photo is actually good, I'm just posting a really bad version that I pulled off google +. This came from my cell phone, one of those days that I forgot to snap a photo with my nice camera.

Day 226 - August 15, 2012 - Good book Vs. Bad book

My sister loaned me Something borrowed to read. I read the first chapter then I slammed the book down because in the first chapter this girl cheated with her best friend's fiancee. Well the girl had no boyfriend but she had sex with her best friend's fiancee and the fiancee cheated on her best friend with her. I decided I wanted nothing to do with that trash, and immediately picked up Hannibal Rising which I bought to read a few years ago. I gave this book back to my sister she can find someone else to read it.

Day 225 - August 14, 2012 - Train talk

Oh how I missed the train talk newsletters, that the MTA leaves on everyone's seat. Interesting to see how they get thrown around because not many people care.

Day 224 - August 13, 2012 - Just one of those days where you have to inhale some Jamaica Blue Mountain after the day is done

This self portrait is awful lol. I had a horrible day, everything seemed to go wrong! Everything! I was extremely tired because I barely slept the night before. I have problems every Sunday I don't have to work I sleep late, then I can't get to sleep and I don't get enough sleep to make it through the work day Monday. I was tired, cranky, and blue, everything that could go wrong went wrong. So I came home and sniffed some Jamaica Blue Mountain, then I made some for Shawn and I, I think it got me a little stoned this coffee is so good!

Day 223 - August 12, 2012 - How do you rate this cake?

We went to the bakery and picked out a cake. We had a cake tasting, my mom, Shawn, myself and my dad were there. So I took charge like the data gatherer/organizer/librarian/reporter that I am! I started writing down how we all rated each piece of cake from a 1 to 5. The winner for our cake filling, raspberry and custard with a yellow cake!

Day 222 - August 11, 2012 - Awkward guest photo lol

Sandra, her boyfriend and Tony came over. I made eggplant and chicken parm and I made them pose for an awkward guest photo before I gave them cappuccinos. There's a price to pay if I'm going to cook for you and make coffee lol.

Day 221 - August 10, 2012 - Let's poison the kids...but the train station will be beautiful!

I hung out with Andrea for the day. I took some photos of her kitty cat but I didn't like any of them enough to make them the daily photo, although some of my daily photos are crappy. I was heading home and noticed the artwork on the windows of the warming/piss booth. It's an effort to beautify this Godforsaken town I grew up in. I posted a photo on google +, Shawn and I discussed the possibility of a child licking it, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened a chewed on DVD case was returned to work the other day, the lady's child was the one chewing on it not her dog.

Day 220 - August 9, 2012 - Late night munchies and bonus photos that I didn't take

Thursdays are an off eating day for me. I usually wake up around 8ish even though I could still sleep a little later even with taking buses and trains. I eat an early breakfast, head out to work, then around 3 I am starving even though my lunch break is at 4. I eat some food at 3, then I might have a snack or something, and again sometimes late at night I'm starving again. One of the disadvantages of my job is this 4 PM break. The other libraries I worked for always gave the employees a 5 PM or 6 PM break when eating dinner. Not this library, if you work a night, your dinner break is usually at 4. So I came home starving and ate leftover onion rings. This day was a little different I went to work at 5 because Shawn and I got our marriage license done and then I had to go to David's Bridal and get my newly purchased dress fitted for alterations. There's bonus pictures to this entry of Shawn and I at town hall after we got our marriage license done! They'll be on google + too but for now they are here!

Day 219 - August 8, 2012 - Come on Ice Cream Sandwich!

Finally sprint made the ice cream sandwich upgrade available, it was supposed to be available last year sometime. So I upgraded my android. Shawn upgrades his phones on his own, with different ROMs, and he's a genius with computers so it works out for him. I'm afraid to do what he does to his phones, and I also don't want to trouble him unless I absolutely need the help. So because I'm part pansie/part I bother my fiancee for enough things, I wait and wait and wait...finally got the upgrade! YAY!

Day 218 - August 7, 2012 - A small example of the ugliness of Hewlett

This is the train station of Hewlett. The side road where the tracks are make this town look like it could be part of the sticks instead of the supposed "sophistication and wealthiness" that this town is supposed to exude. When I first moved here I loved it, then I started to really hate it. There's some nice people that live here, there's some awesome people that live here that work in the library with me, but some people are just mean and nasty and ghastly. The streets also have litter scattered about here and there, many stores are closed. This place is going to the dogs but the library seems to survive.

Day 217 - August 6, 2012 - Ugh I felt like a milk maid

So I'm still in the process of trying to work out this commuter bag thing. It's taking so long to find either the right combination of bags, or the most comfortable biggest bag I can handle carrying. I felt like a milkmaid today because I had this tote/purse from juicy on one shoulder and  this metropolitan bag I've temporarily given up on on the other shoulder.

Day 216 - August 5, 2012 - Goodbye old friend

I took this photo for e-Bay to demonstrate the LCD of my old camera which I decided to sell. I decided to sell my old camera for a few reasons. First for almost a year it's been just laying there on my desk unused. Second I was in panic mode. I was panicked about trying to get money together for the wedding, this is something I really don't have to worry about anymore. Shawn and I have decided to combine finances, I also revealed to him all of the debt and credit cards I have. It was a little embarrassing to reveal this information to him, but we are getting married he would have had to have found out eventually. In a way it's pretty good because he is taking over all the finances. He's going to teach me what I have to do in order to be more responsible with my money if he isn't around to help for some reason. It works out well though because now I don't have to panic so much about the wedding, since we'll be combining our money together. It will also help me a lot in the future I won't spend so crazy because I know he'll be able to see the account, but at this point I need a person to be able to view what I'm doing financially before I dig myself into a deeper hole with the debt. I kind of need a watchdog. So anyway this camera went up for sale. It sold on e-Bay but not for as much as I was hoping it'd bring in. It was an older camera though, I dropped it a few times, it was in working condition but the body was a little broken, I shouldn't have expected to bring in lots of cash for it.

Day 215 - August 4, 2012 - I don't know about this....

So my Vera Bradley order came in the mail, and my long awaited metropolitan bag has actually sorely disappointed me. It's not nearly as big as I hoped it would be, it can't fit everything I'd like to carry. It's not comfortable for my shoulders. It actually kills them even when I barely have anything in the bag. I sometimes write these blog entries long after I've taken the daily photo because I don't really have the time to sit at the computer every day upload a photo and write about it, I do however always take the photo on the actual day the picture is supposed to be taken. I'm writing a batch of entries today on August 14 and this morning I actually temporarily gave up on this bag. Right now it's in my desk drawer at work, I might take it back home if Shawn picks me up on Thursday. I have a broken laptop bag at home (a cheap k-mart bag, the handles have started to break) so maybe I'll use this bag for my laptop and throw away the other one. All I do know is even though it's supposed to be easily carried for a commute, it doesn't work well for my commute, and it will have to work as a lap top bag until I eventually get another car and have more faith in my driving skills.....which won't happen for a very long long time.

Day 214 - August 3, 2012 - My big fat personal project

When I was driving, getting all cocky, and thinking I was really doing well, I was listening to CDs in the car. I was getting them from the library, deciding if I liked them, and if I liked them ripping them for my MP3 collection and to put on my phone to play music once in awhile. I made a huge list of CDs to listen to, and I have a not so huge list of books to read. After the accident I decided I would continue listening to the CDs, I'll just have to limit the amount I check out of the library at one time and I'll have to use the blu-ray player when Shawn isn't home to hear some music or use my computer and headphones when Shawn is home to hear some music. I've been working on digitizing this list so I can work off of google drive and the computer and don't have to carry a massive amount of papers with me, or keep a massive amount of papers at home when deciding which book or CD to get from the library next. What you see now is a much scaled down version of this giant list/pile of papers. I have some home still that I need to digitize but this bit I have now will go faster then the condensed list and paperwork that's at home. This has taken me a long time to work on I am hoping to at least have the list entirely digitized before I leave work for the wedding and honeymoon.

Day 213 - August 2, 2012 - Coney Long Island Rail Road

There's a small part of the Babylon Long Island Rail Road platform that makes me think of Coney Island, circuses, freaks shows and carnivals. It's this booth with mirrors in place of see through windows that I sometimes pass when I'm on the platform to board a train. I have always wondered about it, it may have been an old conductor's booth or something.

Day 212 - August 1, 2012 - Hoping for a better rest of the year

So I forgot to take a photo with my real camera, so I had to once again go with a photo from a foursquare check in. Thankfully I am into taking photos with my foursquare check ins. Anyway as I walked through the lake, and hopped aboard my train I was really hoping for a better month and better rest of the year. Let's hope if I do happen to get another car before the end of the year that I don't bang it up again totaling 3 accidents in a year, let's hope the wedding goes smoothly, let's hope the horrible luck Shawn and I have been faced with is over and we have nothing but almost happy times ahead with the occasional dilemma popping up once in awhile.

Day 211 - July 31, 2012 - New computer wallpaper picked by Shawn

Shawn redid the PC I use at home. This PC belonged to another person in the house who doesn't live there anymore. When we started dating I kind of took it over for use. Shawn put linux on it, and found this nifty wallpaper. I love it!

Day 210 - July 30, 2012 - I can't believe it's not Buddha

Another bridal shower present. This one from my friend Andrea. It's a Buddha butter dish, we absolutely love it. It's extremely silly and very awesome for entertaining purposes. A great conversation piece during a dinner to be thrown as a party.

Day 209 - July 29, 2012 - From 1 plan to two options...this also better be the end of this madness!

Pictured here in the garmet bag you can't see is my official wedding dress, picked up in less then 2 hours off the rack from David's Bridal and my friend Lisa's wedding dress that I would have bought from her to use had I not found the David's Bridal dress.

The story:

My ex-seamstress is a lazy, crazy bitch who did not do her job. Her name is Vicki Grouzis and if you find her business card or see a company name called Vivian's couture, RUN THE OTHER WAY AND GET YOUR TAILORING/ALTERING NEEDS DONE ELSEWHERE! After repeated dodged phone calls, excuses about being sick, finally coming up with a half made dress sans detail, then screwing up said detail BIG time, I had enough and was very worried about what kind of dress I could get for this wedding. I told her I didn't want her to make my dress anymore, of course she won't refund me any of the $650 I gave her for this dress. After losing with this lady big time I went to David's bridal, and found a dress of the rack that just needs to be fitted and slightly altered. The dress is really nice, it's very embarrassing for this lady it took her about 9 months and plenty of time to produce some crap and I found a better dress with better work at David's bridal off the rack in less then 2 hours.

Also this better be the end of a string of horrible luck Shawn and I have been having, we better have a good wedding with no problems, and hardly any major problems for years and years and years, because in the span of a few months we've had enough problems to last a lifetime.

Day 208 - July 28, 2012 - A nice umbrella...and a black lace bra?!?

So I rented this book from work....

It was a  writing collaboration based on a list that was published in Glamour magazine. Two of the things on the list were:

#4. A purse, a suitcase, and an umbrella you’re not ashamed to be seen carrying.

and

#11. A set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra.

That's where this photo comes in. I purchased the nice umbrella, and the black lace bra (which Shawn has yet to ooogle). This is a close up photo of both objects. Technically this photo was taken a little after midnight on the 29th, when I realized I didn't take a shot yet I put this photo together, the clock said it was still not midnight yet but my camera's clock said it was after midnight.

Day 207 - July 27, 2012 - The phantom and Griffy show

Since we lost Chuv and Grizz these two have gotten even closer, and they've taken over the outside and inside of the house. We recently opted to place the dog in a new home because we couldn't keep up with the expenses of his allergy medicines and constant flea treatments/flea bombings. Now we are down to Kissy, Griff and Phantom. I snapped this of the dynamic duo, the frick and frack of Tappan Ave after Griff ran outside to hang with phantom.

Day 206 - July 26, 2012 - A kind of pricey not so useful solution

So I'm in a phase of what I am now calling the bag wars. I'm trying to find the best bag that sort of supports and eases the ache on my shoulders, but something where I can still take everything but the kitchen sink with me on my commute. I've already quasi decided that I'm going to drive again to save my back and shoulders. My kitty cat tote is so cute, but it was so heavy, the bag can fit a lot but has no extra padding or support for when I'm hoisting a heavy load. So I decided to "browse" in Loehmann's...I should stay away from that place. Some of their Juicy bags were 40% off the clearance price, with my 10% discount it worked out to 50% off. I needed a new hair clip as well because I had broken my last good one by mistake the night before. So I bought the bag, used it for a few days, and then went back to the kitty cat tote. I ordered a Vera Bradley metropolitan bag, a commuter/laptop bag I've been oogling for awhile so hopefully when that one comes in the mail I will find it useful. Being on public transit causes me to switch bags quite often, either because I buy a new one and try to see how it works for my carrying needs or because I go shopping in my closet and try to use something I've already bought that I haven't decided to resell on e-bay just yet. Driving was much easier, I was more content with the bags I had and was able to easily put multiple bags in the car for different carrying purposes. *sigh* I'll have a third car again, hopefully 3 is the magic number and I won't bang it up like I did the last two. It's a running joke now, if you don't like your car I'll be glad to bang it up for you so you can get a new one.

Day 205 - July 25, 2012 - Deceptive museum shot

My friend Kate got us this awesome 3D wall art we found when we were registering. She gave it to me at the bridal shower that my mom made. It's pretty awesome, depending on how you look at it, what angle you look at it the photo depicts this tree in one of the four seasons. This photo is a mesh of Spring and Winter. It makes this small part of our place look like a gallery, although our place is far from the looks of a crisp clean gallery space lol
